Introduction

Integers, integers! You use them every day, and your job is to find out all you can about integers. Integers are used in golf, music, and even building batteries! But the integer 2 doesn't even know what an integer is! He needs your help to explain to him what he is!There is more than just that though, integers are all around you, so get to work and go, go, go!

Task

Some basic Questions you need to answer are:

  • What is an integer?
  • In what century were negative integers finally accepted?
  • Which cultures were the first to use negative integers, and what contributions did they make?
  • When was the word interger introduced?
  • What does the word integer mean in latin?
  • What is the symbol for integers, where does it come from and what does it mean?
  • How do you add two integers if they have the same sign? Explain how to determine the Sum's sign.
  • How do you add two integers if they have different signs? Explain how you determine the sum's sign.
  • Explain how you determine a difference when subtracting two integers.
  • Explain how you multiply and divide two integers. A chart is acceptable as part of yourm answer.
