Introduction
Introduction
A disease caused by a pathogen is an infectious disease. Pathogens include bacteria, fungi and parasites which are all alive. Pathogens also include viruses which are not considered to be alive. Noninfectious diseases are caused by heredity or environmental factors. The purpose of this web quest is for you to research an infectious or noninfectious disease in order to design and make a disease fact sheet/newsletter.
Task
Task
There have been reported cases of different infectious diseases going around in the community. The State Health Department needs to provide people with information on the diseases in their newsletter but they don't have any fact sheets they can send out. They need fact sheets on noninfectious diseases as well. They asked for our school to help!
Your task is to develop a lewsletter fact sheet on an infectious or noninfectious disease of your choice. You will need to research the disease you have chosen.
You need to present your information in a way that can be included in the newsletter.

Evaluation
Evaluation
Your newsletter will be assessed by the teacher using a rubric.
You will need to ensure your fact sheet includes:
- An overview of the disease
- Symptoms of the disease
- How the disease is spread
- Incubation period
- How to treat the disease
- How to prevent contracting the disease
- Any other information you think is important
Conclusion
Conclusion
Once you have completed your fact sheet newsletter, you will present it to the class through an informal oral presentation. Don't panic! You will not be assessed on your oral presentation but try to do your best. Once you have done your presentation give your newsletter to the teacher for assessment.
