Imperialism played a huge part in shaping out world. Today you are going to be historians and it your job to discover the truth behind why Impeiralsim played such a large part in out history and how it affected. 

You will work in teams of four and each member will be responsible for filling your own sheets. When you have finsihed you will present your findings to eachother. If you all come up with different conclusions and cannot reach an agreement on an answer you need to come up with a different theory or edit currently existing theories. If you come to an agreement on what the answer is write it down and prepare to present it to the class.

The Task: 

You will come up with hypthethis about how Imperialism became the idea that shaped the world and the effects that it had and present it to the class using examples to justify your ideas. 

Process

Directions:

1.Each person reads every website. 

2.Answer each question on your own. 

3.Discuss Answers.

4.Come up with an answer that everyone agrees on.

5.Make sure that you include evidence to support your answer

5.Write the answer down.

6.Create a poster. You poster will present your ideas-you must have (as minimum) three pieces of evidence to support your thesis. 

7.Each person fills out a form, which explains how much of the project they did (they will also be asked to rate group mates)

6.The person whose birthday is closest to the beginning of the year will present their ideas. 

7.Each person turns their own worksheet in.

Congratulations on your discovery historians! You've learned about the motivations behind imperialism and it's relationship to the Spanish American war, The Filipino Affair, the Annexation of Hawaii, and US involvment in South America around the turn of the century. Imperialism changed the world map, hurt indigenous peoples, and still affects many people today.
