Introduction
You are now beginning a study of the human body. It is important that we understand how our bodies work so that we will be able to take good care of them. Your body is covered by your largest organ and it’s supported from within by your foundation, your skeletal system! All of your body systems have to work together in order to keep you alive and well.
Task
The Human Body… An Amazing Machine!
How does it work?
What are the systems of the human body?
How do each of these systems work?
Step 1: Organize into Groups
First, you will get into your groups. There are six groups, one for each
system of the body that we will be covering. The body systems that you and
your classmates will be researching are:
Circulatory System
Digestive System
Step 2: Do the Research
You and your group will be researching your body system, focusing on the
following questions:
What is the primary function of your body system?
What are the important organs in your body system?
What is the function of each of the organs?
Step 3: Draw the Body
You and your group will be drawing a life-sized poster of the human body.
Follow these steps:
Trace one of your group members on a large piece of paper (butcher paper
works well).
Draw the important parts of your body system in the outline of the human
body.
Work on the Group Presentation
Your group will put together a presentation describing the body system that
you have been researching. Every member of your group needs to have a part
in the presentation. In your presentation, you should cover the focus
questions from the beginning of the assignment.
Process
In your final presentation, you will be teaching your class about the body
system you researched. You will present your poster of the human body and
show your class all of the important organs of your system.
Evaluation
After all of the presentations, you will take a quiz on the human body
systems
Conclusion
It is really important to take notes of your classmates presentations. It is your
responsibility to learn about your body system.
