How to Use Google Docs/Drive to More Efficiently Complete a Cross Functional Team Project

Introduction

You are the project manager for a newly formed, multi-department team. The team is formed to solve the problem of creating more awareness of the rising rates of drunk driving. The current messages do not connect well with today’s teenagers. You are tasked with creating an advertisement campaign that will better connect with today’s youth. 

Task

By the end of this lesson each member will know how to gain access to google drive using their account. They will know how to use google docs to create, share, and edit documents among their project team members. Also, they will be able to use google as a form of communication among the team. Overall, they will learn basics of google drive/docs to more efficiently communicate information to reach the end goal of completing work tasks. 

  1. Learn how to access google drive through your gmail account
  2. How to create a folder and share it with all group members
  3. How to create a google doc and upload it to the shared folder
  4. Once that is done you will be complete the following:
    1. Create a slogan that will be  associated with the campaign
    2. Design a commercial that can be used on television
      1. Type out the script (not making a video)
    3. Design an advertisement to be used on a billboard or magazine
      1. Decide what media would be best for the Ad (what magazine or where should the billboard be located)
    4. Explain the purpose of your slogan and how the commercials and Ad reflect that purpose and relate to the overall achievement of increased awareness.

Learn how to access google drive through your gmail account

Google drive is an app that allows you to create and share various documents with any number of users. The first step is logging into your gmail account. If you do not have a gmail account then you will need to create one. Attached are links with directions that will guide you in creating account and how to access the google drive app.

How to create a folder and share it with all group members

Creating a folder in Google Drive allows you to save any work and also gives you the ability to share any work with the entire project team.

How to create a google doc and upload it to the shared folder

Once you have a folder that has been shared with the entire team you will need to know how to create documents using google docs. This allows you to create, save, edit, and comment on all documents created by yourself or other members.

These Next tasks are to be completed using google drive and docs. You must complete each step within a google document. Then you must share that document with the enitre group by saving it in the folder created for the team project.

Design a commercial that can be used on television

This should just be a script of the commercial. Include the setting of the commercial and its intended affect on viewers.


Design an advertisement to be used on a billboard or magazine

Explain what form of media you will be using (billboard or magazine) and the intended source (where the billboard is located or what magazine). Explain why the chosen source will reach the intended target market.



Explain the purpose of your slogan and how the commercials and Ad reflect that purpose and relate to the overall achievement of increased awareness.

Slogan

Slogan must be related to the topic in a way that connects with youth, is catchy. (15%)

Commercial Script

Must incorporate slogan and show negative effects of drunken driving (20%)

AD

Incorporate slogan, choice of media must be relevant and justified (15%)

Conclusion/Purpose

Must bring all of the advertising campaign together. Shows a clear purpose and plan of action that any reader will be able to decipher the meaning and understand the message being presented clearly. (40%)
