Conclusion

CONCLUSION

We came up to the conclusion that “How much” and “How many” are used to ask about quantities.

How many is for count nouns (chairs, desks, pencils..,) and How much for noncount nouns (luggage, money, traffic..,).

Some of these expressions are always followed by a noun, then the verb and the complement. Some people may get confused at the moment to ask for something; for instance:

How many cars do you have?
¿Cuántos autos tienes?

How much money do you have?
¿Cuánto dinero tienes?

How much is not used just for questions about quantity but prices too. For example:

How much is this car?
¿Cuánto cuesta este auto?

How much are those potatoes?
¿Cuánto cuestan esas papas?

To avoid this kind of confusion you must differentiate the use of How much and How many taking into account the grammar.
