The Holocaust was a terrible and tragic time during modern history in which millions of people were methodically destroyed by Adolf Hitler and the Nazi regime he created.

The people targeted by the Nazis were done so because of their religious beliefs, background, heritage, and even their lifestyle.

We are studying The Holocaust now to remember the horror and destruction that evil will do when given the chance.

We will be looking over The Holocaust for the next few weeks; this WebQuest will help provide you with a foundation for other texts that we will be reading on The Holocaust.

Analyzer: Prior to reading, "Concentration Camps", in 1 paragraph, write down your thoughts/predictions about "What was the Nazis' intended use of the concentration camps?"
After you've completed the reading review the question and answer again with your new knowledge in another paragraph.
Then discuss what you've read with available group members.

Reporter: You will discover photographs and excerpts and report on findings.
Each photograph (minimum of 4, one from each photo link) will have an explanation of what is happening, or what has happened in the picture. With 1 short paragraph per photo please give the photo a title prior to writing your own paragraph explaining your findings.
Discuss with group members about what you've found, read and written.

Join discussion with group memebers and provide input.

Director/Lead Presenter: Read "Ghettos" and reflect on how this made you feel in 1-2 paragraphs.
Start discussion with group members on how their reading sections made them feel, and why?
Manage any other discussion questions relevant to the readings.

Identify who specifically helped. Join group discussion.

Evaluation

Assessment: I would assess whether or not the WebQuest helped the students establish the reading target by having them complete a formative assessment exit slip like the one below. Rubric for assessment is below exit slip, ten points possible for completeness, participation and effort.

EXIT SLIP:

What was the objective?

How well did I do in my Role?

Where could I use this again?

What was important about it?

Conclusion

At the end of the WebQuest the Director / Lead Presenter's should be holding small group discussions about what they've researched and read about with your group.

Individual group discussions  will end and we will turn to have a few voluntary groups Lead Presenter's share what they've found and want to discuss with the rest of the class.

This should lead into a great comprehensive class discussion reviewing what groups have just learned.
