History

Introduction

History is an important part of learning and a vital way to understand how important education is and how far we have come as learners. Have you ever wondered how different things are now than they were in the eighteenth century? I have found some exciting new ways to compare history from the eighteenth century and the current, twenty-first century. You will follow the website links provided for this activity.

Task

You will pick five different episodes of Now & Then to watch http://libertyskids.com/nowthen/index.html

You will pick a character from the site which includes historical people and read about their lives. You will continue to read these and follow links to their family members and friends to learn about as well.  http://libertyskids.com/arch_who.html

Next, you will pick an object from the what category and find information pertaining to it.  http://libertyskids.com/arch_what.html 

Lastly you will pick an item from the where category.  http://libertyskids.com/arch_where.html

You will create newspapers for the information you have found and include the information in complete sentences.  http://libertyskids.com/lnn.html

  

Process

Watch (5) episodes of the liberty kids and take notes on a word document.

Pick a character from the who category and do some research online using the search engine of your choice as well as the information given.

Second pick a what pertaining to either the episodes of liberty kids or the character that you chose and do some research on your search engine of choice, take notes on a word document.

Thirdly, find a place to research under the where category and do further research online with your search engine of choice.

Lastly, create a newspaper from all the information you have gathered. Print it when you are finished.

Evaluation

You will be evaluated on the information you gathered and what you have learned with a rubric.

Conclusion

The webquest website liberty kids will  teach students how to make life in Colonial America relevant to youth today, key ideas that led to the War of Independence, tips on helping kids use the Internet productively and safely, and resources for additional background information.
