Welcome to Srta. Galvin's Webquest for hispanic artists. Throughout this activity you will be able to:
- understand articles about a work of art
-
identify some biographical and background information from news media, as well as headlines and current happenings.
- explain the similarities and differences between my culture and that of a Hispanophone region with regards to styles of art
This is an opportunity for you to see how hispanic art has shaped and embraced society as history happened. I think I've picked relatively relatable and visually interesting pieces and artists for you to research! Have fun with this!

Teacher Page
Why a webquest? Why study artists and their masterpieces? How is a painting related to literacy in Spanish?
These may be some of the questions you have been asking while completing your webquest study. Well, I am here to answer them!
- First, art can be BORING for students, and this type of activity makes it fun (I hope).
- More importantly, learning about art is not just about memorizing dates, names, etc. To understand art, you need to understand the literary and historical implications that shaped the styles of each artist. Reading literature helps you understand how the people in that place and time felt, what the ideas surrounding each aspect of history were, and how people viewed society during that era.
- Expressing your knowledge of something using varied formats only helps you rather than me (more grading). You get to speak in your groups, read information from authentic resources, and write down your findings. Presenting material in multiple formats provides you different areas of expression, as well as multiple opportunities to succeed.
