Introduction
Heat is a form of energy that we interact with on a daily basis. We use it to cook food, heat our homes and we produce heat energy when we move our bodies.

The Law of Conservation of Energy states that energy can not be created or destroyed but only converted and transferred. You will explore what heat energy is and how it is transferred.
Task
Your task is to create a presentation in pairs defining heat energy in terms of particle movement and explain the three main methods of heat transfer.
By the end of this task you should be able to:
- Explain what heat energy is in terms of particle movement
- Define the three methods of heat transfer
- Identify the state/s of matter that each method of heat transfer occurs in
- Create representations of scenarios that demonstrate each method of heat transfer
You may present your information in any of the following digital methods:
- Poster
- Powerpoint
- Prezi
- Comic Strip
- Animation
- Other (discuss with me first!)
Process
Your presentation should answer the following questions
- What is heat energy? Describe in terms of particle movement.
- What are the three methods of heat transfer?
- Describe each of the methods of heat transfer in terms of particle movement.
- What states of matter can each of the methods of heat transfer occur in?
- Describe one scenario for each method of heat transfer that illustrates how heat energy is transferred in terms of the particles. Include a labelled diagram of this scenario.
