Introduction
Welcome to the EN0120 Shakespear WebQuest.

Soon we will be diving into one of William Shakespear's most famous dramas, Romeo and Juiet. In order to really understand the play, why the characters behave the way they do, we need to understand the CONTEXT in which in was written.
Task
For this project you will create a 2 page newspaper. You are the reporters and the famous play is opening at the World Theater. You will write one feature article, and one or more of the following: secondary articles, advertisements, cartoons, coupons, crossword puzzles, review of the play, and pictures. You will use the website listed on this site to find the information and create the newspaper as it might have looked during the time period.
In your group you will need to decide who will do what. On the follwing page you will see a list of things you can include in your newspaper. Your group will have to decide who will do what. Group work is important and your fellow members will evaluate you on your preformace.
Under the "Evaluation" tab, you will find 2 rubrics. One is regarding your final group project/presentation. The other is the one you and your fellow group members will use to evaluate eachother. Read them, understnad them and prefrom accordingly!
Process
Requirements:
- Write a feature article for your newsletter after researching it on the internet.
- Fill up the other page with another shorter article(s), a cartoon, crossword puzzle, coupons, advertisements, a review of the play, or pictures you draw or find on the internet. If you can think of anything else that would be included in a newspaper or newsletter, let me know.
- The feature article can be about anything related to Shakespeare or the play:
- Shakespeare’s life (or parts of it)
- Shakespearean language
- Elizabethan Society
- Clothing of the time period
- The Globe Theater and it’s history
- Staging and scenery in the play or other plays of the time
- Queen Elizabeth I
- Romeo and Juliet (a summary of the play, its history on stage)
- Shakespeare’s inspirations for writing Romeo and Juliet
- Other playwrights during Shakespeare’s time
- Any other related topic that you approve with me
- Type your feature article
- “Layout” the rest of the first page and the second page. I highly encourage the use of Microsoft Publisher to create your newsletter. It will be much more professional looking

Megan's page had this to say about her own inspiration:
The person that deserves the most credit is Janet Chase. I got the inspiration for this project from her website http://www.esc9.net/webquests/midsummer.html.html and in fact have largely based this on her idea. However, after finding the initial idea of creating a newspaper I ran with it and made this my own.
