             A varied balanced diet is an importan aspect  for teenagers as they need to feel energetic to deal with daily responsibilities.  As you are aware of that, you have decided to create a breakfast club to encourage your peers not to skip this meal and suggest them healthier options that do also taste great.

Task

The school needs your help!

          Your group has been chosen to design a brochure to advertise your five-day balanced menu for the school´s breakfast club. Together, you will investigate what eating healthy mean, what nutrients and vitamins are necessary for your body, what aspects you need to be aware of to keep a healthy weight and also what the term "eating disorders" mean.

You need to gather food information, answer some questions, investigate eating choices and receips, discuss and finally create your menu.

Process

How do you do it?

             The class will be divided in groups of four. There will be four roles for this task: a nutritionist, a psychologist and two reporters.

The Nutritionist and the psychologist research the Internet to find relevant information to answer the questions and receips for the breakfast club; and the reporters write down the information. in the templates provided. 

You need to work together and become food experts on healthy eating. Now you have your roles, let´s move on...

STAGE 1:

  • NUTRITIONIST AND REPORTER: Go to the template "Nutritionist and Reporter" and answer the questions. For this, you need to surf the websites provided in the "task" section.
  • PSYCHOLOGIST AND REPORTER: Go to the template "Psychologist and Reporter" and answer the questions. For this, you need to surf the websites provided in the "task" section.

STAGE 2:

The nutritionist, the psychologist and the two reporter meet to share information and decide how the presentation of your breakfast club will be.

Your presentation needs to include the following information:

  • An explanation of what a breakfast club is and the aim of the club.
  • A five-day breakfast menu
  • The receips of your breakfasts
  • Dates and times of the breakfast club
  • How to enroll in the club

STAGE 3:

You must prepare your presentation in Prezi, PowerPoint or any other tool you prefer. As there is not enough time, only three groups will present their projects. However, all of you will send the project to the teacher´s email: p.gonzalez@gmail.com
