Introduction
The future of the City of Pulovia is in your hands! The City Council is meeting next months about the CO2 emissions in the city, and they are not convinced they need to worry about. They don't feel the Greenhouse effect can harm them - Global Warming is not their problem!! You are now on a quest to show them what is going on in the world around them. Your big question is:
How has Global Warming affected our lives?
- what can we do to help?

Task
Our audience is the City Council. We will do our best to convince them to pay attention to the area of Global Warming.
Your task is to research an area and investigate the effects Global Warming has had on the area you choose. First you have to choose a role:
- an environmentalist. You can look at how Global Warming has affected agriculture or eco systems. Or you can look at local mines and how they operate to reduce their CO2 emissions.
- a doctor. You can look at health issues caused by Global Warming, eg. temperature related illnesses or air polution - locally or globally.
- a Natural Resource Manager. You can look at different natural resources used to provide the world with the energy we need, instead of using fossil fuels. Eg. look at how the oil sands impact Global Warming or how using oil to create energy is affecting the globe - what can we do instead?
- a consumer. As a person in our society, we want things, eg. a car, toys, trips (often involving planes), TV's etc. We want a lot, and we want it cheap. Many products are not produced in Canada. Look at where we get things from, and how that can affect the environment. You can also look at why our society is this way. Is it good for something?
Fill out this form when you know which role you want to take on.
Process
When you have chosen a role, you need to think about exactly what you want to focus on in your area. If you are an environmentalist, do you want to look at a local mine? How do they contribute to the CO2 emissions? What is the air quality like around the mine? What rules do they have in place to decrease their CO2 emissions?
or
Are the droughts experienced in eg. California a result of Global Warming? What is happening and how does it affect people? What can we do to help?
The previous form had space to fill in your big question. This question will be your driving question. This question is basically what your research is trying to answer. This project is less teacher structured, meaning you will have to come up with the questions to research. The questions have to be 'deep-thinking' questions and cannot be 'yes/no' questions or questiones that are Google-able (this means you can find the answer in a quick Google search).
