Introduction

Ganesha is depicted with an elephant's head on a human body and in the Hindu tradition he is the son of Lord Siva and the Goddess Parvati. He is known as the Remover of Obstacles and is prayed to particularly when people are beginning a new enterprise or starting a new business. For this reason, Hindus worship Ganesha first before beginning any religious, spiritual or worldly activity.
Task
The task is to:
- Investigate what each part of the Ganesha means.
- Answer the following questions about the Ganesha.
- After answering questions, draw your own "God".

Process
Answering the following questions.
- In your own words explain the importance of the Ganesha for the Hindus.
- What does it represent?
- Who are the parents of the Ganesha?
- What day is the Ganesha celebrated in and how long does it last?
- Name each part of the Ganesha and what do they represent?
*When finished you will have to do a drawing of your own "God". You have to elaborate on why is it so special and also list its characteristics.

Conclusion
This work is a fun way to motivate others to learn about other cultures and their beliefs. It's interesting to know why they believe in the things they do. So this was just a little exercise in learning about the beautiful Ganesha and the way the Hindus praise it. Apart from your beliefs, what other beliefs do you find interesting and why? It's always nice to read about other Gods and Godesses.
