Task
The Process for this unit, will be the same as the previous unit on percentage. You will be given a number of tasks each week, which you will complete mostly independently. On Mondays at 12:30, you will be given an opportunity to discuss any of the questions or problems you had on the previous week's material.
You will be required to watch videos, complete online tasks, and textbook questions. You will also complete the unit with a test.
Please follow the schedule outline in the Process section!
Good Luck!
Process
Week 1: Introduction: (Review of Important Concepts)
1. Equivalent Fractions: fractions that are equal in value. For example the fractions 1/2 and 2/4 are equivalent because they represent the same value.
- Watch the following video and complete the appropiate activities:
http://www.learnalberta.ca/content/me5l/html/math5.html?goLesson=4
- Test your knowledge of equivalent fractions by playing this game:
http://www.mathplayground.com/Triplets/Triplets.html
2. Lowest Terms: An equivalent form of a fractions with a numerator and denominator that have no common factors other than 1. For example: 3/4 is the lowest term form of 12/16 since 3/4=12/16 and 3 and 4 have no common factors other than 1.
