Introduction

The world is made up of many different biomes. Biomes are large regions of the world with similar plants, animals, and other living things that are adapted to the climate and other conditions.1 There are many different classifications of biomes, but we will focus on six major terrestrial (land) ones:   1) Tundra   2) Taiga (also known as Coniferous Forest or Boreal Forest)   3) Rain Forest    4) Desert   5) Grasslands (also know as savanna or praire)   6) Temperate or Deciduous Forest A biome is made of many similar ecosystems.Ecosystem are the interactions between the living things and the nonliving things in a place. In an ecosystem, the plants, animals, andother organisms rely on each other and on the physical environment – the soil, water, and nutrients, for example. An ecosystem is often much smaller than a biome, although the size varies.  At any given time, ecosystems may get out of balance and will adapt/change.

Task

2)reading

3 social studies

Process

1. Go to the link below to get the page with the information to complete Location and Unique Characteristics, Look through the links to get the information you need. You can also use this site to get information about plants and animals.

http://www.mbgnet.net/sets/temp/index.htm

2. Use the following link to research animals in this biome.

http://www.blueplanetbiomes.org/deciduous_animal_page.htm

3. Use the following link to get information about the plants in this biome.

Conclusion

Look at the climate and location of your biome, and consider what it would be like to live there. Think about the things a plant or animal would have to deal with living in that environment.
