Force and Motion-Simple Machines

Introduction

You have been hired by Home Depot to create a new invention. The invention will need to make the everyday lives of people easier. First we need to figure out the answers to some questions.

What are simple machines?

What does each simple machine do? How does it work?

How do simple machines make life easier for us?

How can we combine two or more simple machines to make a compound machine?

What compound machine will you invent to help make the lives of people easier in some way?

Task

You will work individually to complete this project. First you will locate six different types of simple machines. You will find the definition of each machine and a picture of that machine. Next, you will combine two or more of the simple machines to create a compound machine. This machine must be designed to make the lives of people easier in some way. You will draw and color the compound machine. You will also label the simple machines you combined to form your new invention.

Evaluation

You must have all 6 simple machine definitions and an example of each.

You willinvent, draw, and color a compound machine. Your invention must have at least 2 of the simple machines in order to form a compound machine.

Next, write a paragraph (5 sentences) that explains your compound machine and persuades people to purchase your invention. 

This will be a test grade in science. Take your time, use your imagination and have fun!
