Force and Motion

Introduction

What would the world be like if there was nothing to stop objects from flying around? Or anything to hold us down to the Earth? Imagine that this has happened! What has gone wrong with the world? What are we missing?

It is your job to figure out what has happened and tell the class about it. 

Task

In order to figure out what is wrong with the world you have to investigate force and motion. In your investigastion you will discover what force and motion are and what role they play in our world. 

Process

Step 1: I am going to pair you up with another student and then I will assign each pair a topic to research about force and motion.

Step 2: Once I have assigned each pair a topic (some pairs will have the same topics) I will hand out your worksheets you are going to fill out with your research. Later in the week you will use this information to create a poster about your topic to put up in olur classroom.

Step 3: Once you have the worksheet for your pair you can get started researching using the websites I have provided for you on here and finding out the information you need to help us solve this mystery.

Step 4: If you and your partner finish early you may go back over your information and make sure it is correct and then you can sit and read quietly until time is up.

Step 5: Have fun solving this mystery!!!

Conclusion

What was missing in the world? Why were objects flying around and not stopping? Do you know how we fixed the problem?

Bonus Challenge!

Write a paragraph explaining how you would fix the world so that objects are not flying around without stopping. Make sure you use your nicest handwriting! If you would like to you may also draw a picture to go with your paragraph.
