Introduction
Let's learn about food groups!

This webquest will help you to explore more about foods we eat in our daily life. Additionally it will assist you to get familiar about data collection and plotting graphs using Excel spread sheets.
Objectives:
Students will
- Label the food pyramid and place the food items accordingly in the correct sections of the food pyramid.
- Enter data in to an excel spread sheet and create a graph for a collected data with at least 60% accuracy.
- Interact with various technology tools to enhance their learning and creating knowledge.

Process
TASK 1: VIDEO CLIP
- The link below will take you to a interesting video on food groups.
- Your task is to watch the video and identify the main food groups shown in the video.
- Name the food groups and food items that go along with each group ( Use the Activity Sheet 1)

TASK 2: GROUP ACTIVITY
- In groups of 5 discuss the food groups which you have listed in the activity sheet.
- Select any one of the food groups and write your choice on the white board. ( another group cannot choose a food group chosen by another group).
- Using the food group chosen, create a name for your restaurant.
- Once you have decided your restaurant name, produce as many food items as possible relevant to your food group.
TASK 3: MAKING A FOOD PYRAMID
- Take a printout of the food pyramid template and the pictures of food items ( Activity Sheet 2).
- Cut and paste the food items appropriately in the sections of the pyramid.
- Name each section of the food pyramid.
- Present your work to the class.
TASK 4: SURVEY
- Complete the survey form and data sheet given in the google drive ( students will complete the survey form and data sheet and will save in the google drive).

- Once the data is entered, generate a graph for the collected information in the Excel spread sheet given in the above link.
- Print and display the graph in the designated area of the classroom.
Once all the tasks are completed, you will discuss the importance of taking a balanced diet.

- Oral questions will be asked individually to check the understanding about food groups and their importance. Plus a Powerpoint quiz will be conducted.
