The First Fleet

Introduction

The First Fleet arrived in Terra Nullius (Australia) on the 26th of January, 1788. They had come because the gaols (Jails) had overflowed with convicts.

In this lesson you will learn more about the colonisation, you should be able to answer the following questions:

- What are convicts?

- Who was the leader of the First Fleet?

- Were there Native people when they came?

- Why do you think they invaded the land?

Task

Pretend you are an Aboriginal Man/Woman or a convict. Write a narrative or story then make a Clay Animation of how it was back in the days.
