Introduction
Second Graders we will be exploring outer space for this unit. For the next few weeks we will read about space,learn about people who have gone to space, and learn about what is actually out there! By the end of this unit you will know all 9 planets, and the name of the moon phases, as well as much much more. We will decorate our classroom to look like our very own solar system! So get ready because we will be exploring outer space! 
Task
Space exploerers you will be placed into groups of 4-5 students and will complete a few missions. Each group of explorers will be assigned a different planet and you will learn all about it as well as new things about yourself. Once you finish your missions you will get to do a SPECIAL assignment!
Process
First your groups will recive large poster paper and you will have the name of the planet you will be looking up infromation on. Then you will go to this website http://planetfacts.org/planet-mercury-facts/ and you will write down 6-8 facts about this planet. Once you are done with that you will need to print out this work sheet https://www.superteacherworksheets.com/space/weight-on-planets.pdf. Once you print that out you may walk around the room and find the infromation on other groups posters to fill out your worksheets. Once the data is collected you can sit back down in your groups and do the math.
