ESH340 - Week 7 Task: Communicable Diseases

Introduction

Today in health & wellbeing lesson, we will be learning about heart disease because next week our school will be participating in Jump Rope for Heart establishd by Heart Foundation organisation. 

Lets have a quick discuss of what is heart disease? and why do people in Australia are diagnosed with it? 

                                             

Task

Okay this task we will be researching about the following questions:       

  • What is heart disease? 

- what is the symptoms? 

  • How do we get it?

- what is the statistics for Australia? 

- what is the treatment?

  • How can we prevent it? 

- what particular things we can do to prevent the heart disease? 

 

I want you to work in pairs and create a project based on this topic. The project can be presented in a powerpoint, on a poster, as news reporters, in a newspaper article, or a play. I want you all to be creative and ensure it is informative and engaging. 

                        

Process

Firstly, we require to find some information to be able to answer the questions so we will have an access to computers and library.

Once you all have collected the information for each questions on a draft paper, start creating your presentation.

The given questions were all answered.    The questions were all answered clearly.                                                                     Some of the questions were missing but the other questions were answered.                   Missed a lot of questions.                                                                 
The information about the health disease were presented clearly and creatively.  The presentation were very creative, engaging and clear to the audience.  The presentation was creative but it missed some signifcant answers so the audience found it hard to follow.  The presentation needed more creativity and needed to be more clear for the audience to understand. 
The resources were used widely and correctly.  The resources were used widely such as websites, books and newspaper article.  The resources were used appropriately but only from one or two resources.  Not enough resources.

Conclusion

Coronary heart disease is a condition that affects the blood vessels. It is one of the high health risks in Australia. 

High blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, and high cholesterol can damage the heart. Chest pain, abdominal pain, and short breathes are the symptoms of a heart disease. 

There is a variety of ways to prevent a heart disease which are following: 

  • Not smoking
  • Eating well
  • Maintaining a healthy weight
  • Exercising regularly
  • Avoiding high blood pressure
  • Treating diabetes (but you will still have an elevated risk)
  • Controlling your cholesterol levels
