Introduction

Students will watch this video for the introduction of the topic Persuasive Writing

This video was used because technology piques studentS interests in learning. Notice that there is an integration of relatable things in the video. for example: burger king, Disney world and characters from the famous movie "Twilight."

Persuasive writing is a form of writing in which the writer uses words to convince the reader that the writer's opinion is correct in regards to an issue.

Task

After the introduction of the lesson, students will formulate their definition of persuasive writing. 

Students will also do an enactment that will communicate what they understand about persuasive writing after the lesson introduction.

Process

Teacher will use charts to project the following information

There are five parts in a persuasive essay.

1. Introduction

2. Supporting paragraph one

3.  Supporting paragraph two

4. Supporting paragraph three

5. Conclusion

The Introductory paragraph is the first paragraph in a persuasive essay. It consists of an attention grabber, a stance and a thesis statement. 

A persuasive essay consists of three supporting paragraphs. Each supporting paragraph has an opening statement that tells the author's main point. The rest of the paragraph should be based on explanation; explanation of the main point. 

The conclusion is basically a summary of the main points.

Evaluation

For the evaluation of the lesson, the teacher will give a graded persuasive essay. This essay will be used to judge how much the students have learnt and to show if the teacher needs to alter her approach and strategies of teaching persuasive writing.

Conclusion

To conclude the lesson, the class will be split in two groups. One group will oppose and one will agree to the following moot: Tablets should replace textbooks in schools
