Introduction

Energy is all around us.  Energy makes things happen.  Energy gets us up in the morning.  Energy keeps our houses warm.  Energy powers our cars and buses.  Energy is an important part of our daily lives!

             

How can you use the internet and other resources to learn about different kinds of energy?

Did you know that there are many different kinds of energy?

           

  1. You will learn about different kinds of energy using the websites and resources given.
  2. You will record the kinds of energy you use at home and at school.
  3. You will learn about ways to save energy and create a picture to show to class what you can do in your own life to save energy.

Step 1:

You will learn about the kinds of energy listed below.  You may click on the links under each kind of energy to do your research.  There are also books that you may like to find at your local library to help you with your research.

Step 2:

You will print out the chart below to identify and record the kinds of energy you use at home, on your way to school, and when you are at school.  You can write or draw at least 3 items you see for each energy columns.

You will listen to the story Why Should I Save Energy?  by Jen Green in class.  The book will teach you about the importance of saving energy!

Step 4:

You will click on the websites below to learn about ways to save energy.  Then you will choose one way that you could save energy in your own life.  Draw a colourful picture and be prepared to share with the class what you will do to save energy.

Energy is everywhere!  There are many kinds of energy such as solar, wind, and electricity.  Now that you can identify the kind of energy you use at home and at school, you can do your part in saving energy!

Energy is important in our daily lives.  We must do what we can to save energy.  Next time someone leaves the light on, you will know what to do!
