Elements of a Story

Introduction

Over  the next few weeks we will be discussing the different elements that make up a story. This portion of the class is vital as it will go a long way in helping you complete your short story project at the end of the year.

When writing or reading a story, it is important to know the differnt elements that go into making the story come to life. The best way to look at it is as if you are baking a cake. Take away one ingredient or miss one step, and it all falls apart. These ingredients, or elements, are what brings and holds a story together.

Your task is to show that you know and understand the different elements of a story. After you have researched individually each of the elements below you will write a 1-2 page paper explaining how they each work and function in a story.
