Discovery of Australia!

Introduction

The year is 1720 and everyone is trying to discover the "New World"... Including you!

Task

Imagine that you were a brave European explorer, travelling around the world to a new country that hasn't been discovered yet!! On your journey at sea you keep a journal of your adventure. This journal will eventually make its way to a museum for all to see and read what life was like for you on your voyage.

Process

Step 1: Watch the following You Tube video about the early European exploration of Australia:

Step 2: Using the Inquiry questions template to create some questions you want to find answers for. These questions will help you learn more about the explorers life.

Step 3: Use a variety of sources to research your explorer. Use the note-taking table to record your information. You should be able to answer your inquiry questions here.

Step 4: Recreate a journal of your chosen explorer. You need to include the following:

*Maps of where they travelled
*Any names of places they sighted/stopped at
*Details about the journey
