Creating a Logo for Christchurch

In this part of our art unit we are looking at creating a new logo or symbol for Christchurch based on "What Christchurch means to you?"

As we begin our quest we need to understand and define what a logo is, and what makes a good logo or a bad logo. 

Lastly you will need to create your own logo and then evaluate if it against the logo checklist to see if it was successful.

Your first task is to complete an anlysis of a logo.

You will do this by answering questions that are found in the process section.

Each question will be linked to a specific website that you can explore and take notes from. Read through each of the websites clearly, as they will help you to answer the questions. 

When you answer the questions make sure that you write down the information in your own words, not just copying what is on the screen.

Find 4 logos from different cities around the world - These cities all have to be in different countries

Now that you have researched what a logo is, and what makes a good logo it's now your turn to create your own logo for Christchurch.

Start by creating a mind map of all the things you enjoy and love about Christchurch (make sure these things are still in our city)

Now select 1 or 2 things from that mind map that you may want to include on your logo. If you are still stuck or want more ideas try researching Christchurch's history here:

Once you have your ideas sorted start drawing some designs - I want to see at least 4 different designs that you could choose. Remember to consider what you found out about what makes a good logo? and also the information sheet in your Google Drive.
