Create a Current Events Speech

Introduction

in this lesson you will learn how to search for current events happening around you and in detail describe what is going that concerns you about this currrent event. You will use online resources to help find your topic and this will heighten your public speaking skills as I will require you NOT to write out your full speech but to practice with bullet points and speak from outlines. You will inform the classroom about the improtance of your topic. 

Task

You will research a current event of your choosing, be sure to be interested in this current event that way your audience can see your genuine interest. You will meet the criteria for the speech, your speech will be 2 minutes long and require that you touch upon the facts of the current event and reasons as to why you chose this particular event. You will also have to introduce yourself before presenting your speech so familiarizing yourself with what you already know about yourself so you can be confident and comfortable when delivering your speech. 

Process

You will research your current events using the following link:http://www.cnn.com/world 

*you must site the article in which you are going to choose for the current event*

You will answer the following questions about yourself for your introduction of yourself: 

- What is your name?
- How old are you?
- Are you male or female?
- Which country are you from?
- Which city/area do you live in?
- Are you religious?
- Pick three words to describe your personality.
- Do you have any pets?

You will answer the following questions about the current events topic you chose:

WHAT is this story about?  List four important facts from your article.

WHEN did this story take place? 

WHERE is this event or issue occurring?   (Specify city, country, region, etc.)

WHY is this story important?

CONNECT the article. What does it have to do with you? Can it be connected to anything we learned or are learning about in class?
