After today's lesson you will know how to properly use these common homophones. 

Task

Today you are goin to be reading and viewing different examples of the homophones to, too, and two. 

their, there, and they're.

and

your, and you're.

  • After reading the instructions given to you, you will fill out the work sheet and next to your answer you will explain why you chose that answer. 
Process
  • To is defined as a function word.

       For example: I went to the store.

  • Too is a synonym for also.

       For example: I love you, too.

             If you can replace the word ‘too’ with also, you have used it correctly.
                   For example: I love you, also.

  • Two is the number 2.

        For example: I am taking two classes this summer.

  • Their is used when talking about ownership.

        For example: That is their car.

  • There is used when talking about a place or an idea.

        For example: My house is over there.

  • They’re is a contraction for they are.

        For example: They’re going fishing.

             If you can replace the word ‘they’re’ with they are then you are using it correctly.
                   For example: They are going fishing.

  • Your is used when talked about possession.

        For example: Is this your book?

  • You’re is a contraction for you are .

        For example: You’re going first.

             If you can fill in the sentence with ‘you are’ then you’re is the one you should use.
                  For example: You are going first.

You will be graded on the accuracy of your placement of the homophones and the proper explenation of why you chose that homophone.
