Task

Make a SLIDE poster!

There are many different forms of comma usage in grammar. The class will get into groups of two (three if needed) and display their knowledge of comma usage.

You should use KeyNote on your MacBook. The slide should consist of:

1. At least four grammar rules.

2. There should be an example under each rule that uses each rule correctly.

3. As a group, you should be able to explain why the comma rule is prevalent in writing.

4. Also, you should come up with an  interesting class activity that will incorporate the comma usage rules you have selected.

Here is a website that will help you identify comma rules and usage!

Commas: Website for Rules and Usage

Process

Part 1: On your MacBook using the Internet

Get into groups of two and research different comma rules and usage on the Web.

Be sure to write down/type your information so it does not get lost before you translate it to the slide.

Here are some websites that may help you with your search:

Part 2: On KeyNote (like PowerPoint)

After gathering information on your four comma usages/rules, locate tools to make a slide (format, slide design, pictures, effects, transitions).

Make a one slide poster that displays the comma usages and rules. Provide examples as previously discussed and be ready to explain your comma usages/rules to the class.

You will be asked to present your comma usages/rules to the class.

Things to think about...

Is there anything you found interesting throughout the presentations? How much of the information did you already know? What did you get out of the presentations? Do you think you will be able to better use commas in your writing after the presentations?
