Students will learn about the daily lives of colonists and Native Americans in Colonial Williamsburg.
You are transported back to Colonial Williamsburg. Would you be a colonist or a Native American? What would your day be like? These are questions that we will be answering in our lesson for today.
Task
What was life like in Colonial Williamsburg? What were the days like for the colonists and Native Americans. Did they work together? Did they get along with each other?
- First, we will go on a virtual field trip to Colonial Williamsburg in Richmond, Virginia.
- As you watch you should be thinking whether you would like to have been a colonist or a Native American.
- Using details from the virtual field trip, students will write a short narrative about what a day in their life would be like if they had lived back then.

Now that we have returned from our field trip, you will want to decide which person would you like to have been - a Native American or a colonist?
Once you have decided, you will write a short narrative about your trip. In your narrative, you should state why you chose either a colonist or Native American. Other things you could include in your narrative might be:

I am a student at Lake Sumter State College. In the Spring of 2016, I will be entering my junior year and beginning the Elementary Education program. I hope to teach first or second grade when I receive my degree. Currently, I am working at a Christian Day Care Center supervising toddlers.
