Colonial America

Introduction

 As shots thundered throughout the countryside, the Revolution began. As your quest begins throughout Colonial America, you will journey through the times of great unrest changing how America began.

Task

Your quest begins with many events starting with the Revolution and ending with the signing of the Constitution of the United States of America, at which point, students will write their own version of the historical evernts  leading up to the signing of the Constitution.

Process

Step 1. Students will research several events, at least 3, leading up to the signing of the Constitution.

Step 2. As they are journeying throughout Colonial America, students will need to complete a historical journals of their choosing to record their findings.

Step 3. After completing research, students will choose an event of interest to them.

Step 4. Students will begin the writing process to complete a Historical Fiction piece from the eyes of the normal man

Step 5. Upon completion of the piece, students will turn in jornals to teacher!

Evaluation

- Demonstrates control, variety and complexity in sentence structure to enhance meaning 
The writing:
- Demonstrates control of grammar and usage to enhance meaning

- Demonstrates accurate, rich and/or precise word choice appropriate for audience and purpose
- Demonstrates control of correctness to enhance communication

Conclusion

As students finish their writings, they will hand in their work. After handing their historical pieces to the teacher, students will submit a reflection of their journey back to Colonial America through powerpoint

This WebQuest was created for 9thgraders, but can be used for all high school grades.  It was designed to complement centers themed on Colonial America. 

        The students will learn about colonial figures and battles that lead to the signing of the Constitution. The time frame I allowed for this activity was 5 days.

       The students will be studying "Colonial American" and will complete a journaling their adventures  They will also be designing a new powerpoint on the events and figure of the the time.  Each group will present their information on a short narrative, as a part of their evaluation.
