Introduction
This webquest is designed to help you make connections between your career goal and the education required for that career. You have begun the work in exploring your future career options by completing the assessments, researching your career choice, and maybe even looking at potential college choices. This webquest will help you delve deeper into this planning process.
The Task is your General Directions. Refer to these as often as necessary to complete the webquest correctly.
The Process are the step-by-step instructions to help you answer the questions required for this webquest.
The Evaluation provides instructions for submitting the webquest answers.
The Conclusion is what we hope to achieve after completing this webquest.
Task
The Task: General Directions.
You will be using www.al.kuder.com to complete this webquest.
1. Log-in to your account.
2. Complete any assessment that has NOT been completed this school year. To check when the last time you completed an assessment Click on "Learn About Myself" tab- then click "View Assessment Results" The date next to the three assessments should have a date on or after 8/01/2015.
3. If you have comleted all of the assessments this school year, then you are ready to Explore Occupations.
4. Each of the the steps in the process will be recorded in the "Note Taker" portion of Kuder. This is where you will record your answers. Open the link in a new tab so you can click back and forth to type your answers. The link is located on the bottom right of the screen. All Questions should be numbered and answered in the Note Taker area. Make sure to click SAVE after every answer. Once complete click SAVE & Exit.

Now, begin the Process...
Process
- Click on the "Learn About Myself" tab. Then click on "View Occupations Suggested by Assessments". Based on the Level of Education you chose as a filter, locate the job of your choice. If you cannont locate the career of your choice, change the Education Level filter. You may change the Education Level to "All Education Levels." If you still cannot locate your career choice- you have 2 choices: 1) Seriously reconsider your career choice or 2) Explore Careers tab: and title search.
- Star the Career of your choice. This saves it to your portfolio.
Question 1: What is your Career Choice. All Questions should be numbered and answered in the Note Taker area. Make sure to click SAVE after every answer. Once complete click SAVE & Exit.
Question 2: What is the median salary for your career in Alabama? This can be located once you click on your career and scroll through the summary tab of the career. (Summary tab is located on the right-hand side of the screen at the top).
Question 3: What is the Outlook for your career? Any careers with a decrease in employment should be reconsidered. You do not want to be unable to find a job because their are NO positions available. This can be located once you click on your career and scroll through the summary tab of the career. (Summary tab is located on the right-hand side of the screen at the top).
- Next click on the Education & Experience tab (right side on the screen), and scim through the information. This is very detailed information. At the bottom of this screen, are links for:
Suggested College and Postsecondary Majors & Suggested Instructional Programs
Here you will decide which route for education you will pursue to prepare for your career. * Medical careers that only show residency programs. Residency programs come after completing the degree requirements for Physician or related option. Almost all careers have several avenues to get to the same end result, those avenues are the major/degree you pursue in college. Pick the major/ degree that best fits you.
Question 4: What Major or Program will you pursue for your career? Some students may be interested in a double major- if you know that is you, include both. Star you choice(s) so they save to your portfolio.
- Click on your choice to see the colleges that offer this major/degree program. If there are none, you can change states, just realize most colleges out-of-state cost significantly more to attend, or you can click the back arrow and choose another major/degree program.
- Locate the college of your choice to attend: you may choose several options. Star your choice(s) so they save to you portfolio.
Question 5: What is/are your college(s) of choice? Why did you pick them?
- Once you click on the college page- a new window pops up asking if you want to request additional information. The only way this feature will work is if your Kuder profile contains your address and phone #. It will pop up again once you close out Kuder and go back in. Requesting information is not required for this webquest.
- Next click on the link for Admissions Office for your college. Your will be prompted with a link to CONTINUE to an external page (this opens a new tab). Locate the ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS for FIRST -TIME FRESHMEN for your school.

Question 7: What is your current GPA and ACT score (if taken)?
- Next click on the tab for Costs & Financial Aid (tabs located on the right side of the screen).
Question 8: What is the estimated annual (academic year) cost of tuition and fees for your college. You can use the link for the National Center for Education Statistics to research this information.
- Next, locate the scholarships page for your college. Generally these can be located under the Financial Aide page. Each schools link to scholarships is different, so you may have to do a bit of searching to locate it.
- Are there any scholarships you meet the criteria for currently? Or one you can reasonably set as a goal to reach before the dealine date of your senior year?
Question 9: What is the Scholarship Deadline date for your school? This date would be of your senior year.

To submit webquest answers for grading:
Click on My Portfolio tab at the top (last colored tab).
Scroll to the bottom and clock on Portfolio Summary
Right Click and Save As... First Name Last Name Kuder Career Planning System -Combined Report (i.e. Joe Jones Kuder Career Planning System- Combined Report).
You will email this file to your teacher or submit using Schoology or Edmodo (if your class uses either of these). Make sure if you email the subject line for the email states the same title as the file: First Name Last Name Kuder Career Planning System -Combined Report.

Conclusion
Many times when talking with students, there seems to be confusion about how to achieve their career goals; which major should I pursue, or which college should I attend. The webquest was designed to help bridge the gap between the goals and those plans.
