Introduction

The Cold War was a time filled with tension and political unrest. The years of 1947-1991 were filled with nuclear tensions, battling ideologies and other wars. The Soviet Union, a proud communist country and the United States, the democratic super power started a "cold war" between each other. They battled not by warfare but by trying to convince or just invading countries to switch them to communism or democracy. How did the Cold War change the world's view on nuclear weapons? How are we still feeling the effects of the Cold War? Could the Cold War have been prevented?
