The Cold War began in 1947 to 1991. The war was 'cold' because there was never any direct combat between the United States and the USSR. Therefore it was a representationof of the indirect conflict between the United States of America and the Soviet Union. It started becuse the United States is democratic and the Soviet Union was Communist so their ideas for the world were contradicting.
