The Cold War was a war that was based on the beliefs of how a government should run. There was tensions between the two main superpowers (the United States and the Soviet Union) because both countries believed that their government ways were better. Many events occurred during the Cold War, including the Arms Race, the Vietnam war, and the Korean War. Throughout this Webquest, you will answer the following essential questions.
1. How did the Arms Race cause tenses throughout the world?
2. How did the Soviet Union collapse?
3. Why was the Cold War caused by political and economical differences?

Process
1. Research four articles. Research one on the tensions between the Soviet Union and the United States, the arms race,the Soviet Unions perspective and the United States perspective. Be sure to include the wars, the space race and how the war ended.(60 minutes)
2. Take notes on each article that you read. (30 minutes)
3. Create and complete a chart that compares and contrast both the Soviet Unions perspectives and the United States perspective.(30 minutes)
4. Write a essay that explains the perspectives of both the Soviet Union and the United States, the tensions between the two main superpowers, and the arms race. Be sure to answer the essential questions in your essay.(60 minutes)
