Introduction


The Cold War was a monumental war between communism and capitalism. The United States and the USSR had lots of tension between their people. They both tried to spread their ideas throughout the world and have their way of government dominate the other through the world. In this webquest you will analyze and answer these essential questions:
1. How did the US and the USSR compete with each other outside of the competition to spread either democracy and capitalism or communism around the world?
2. How did the Korean War and the Vietnam War effect the countries involved?
3. How did the Cold War begin and how did it come to an end?
Task
Create an outline on important events of the Cold War. Be sure to include people involved, the outcome of the events and the effect it had on advancements of the Cold War.
Directions:
1. Read the sources given.
2. Analyze the information on the site and find the key events its talking about.
3. Create an outiline of each event.
4. In your outline be sure to include people involved, what happened, the outcome of the event, and the effect the event had on the people and/or countries involved.
5. Answer each essential question
Process
1. Read the 9 sources given in the Credits tab (3 for each to get answers for each essential question) (60 minutes)
2. Take note of each event in the site you're on (10 minutes)
3. Analyze the key points of each event you read about by including them in your outline (20 minutes)
4. Create an outline that highlights all the events you read about (30 minutes)
5. In your outline be sure to include these necessary requirements: people involved in each event, what took place during the event, what the outcome of the event was, and an analysis of the effects the event had on the people and/or countries involved. (Part of #4; will take place during the 30 minutes of creating the outline)
6. on another piece of paper, write answers to the essential questions in 2-3 sentences. Use the information you learned from the sites given to answer the essential questions. (10 minutes)
Evaluation
5 points: (5 points are given for each bullet)
-all necessary requirements listed in the process tab that are said to be included are included in the outline
-it is obvious they fully understood the content and fully answered all essential questions
-the outline created is neat and easy to follow
4 points: (4 points are given for each bullet)
-most of the necessary requirements are included in the outline
-they mostly understood the content and answered all essential questions
-you can follow and understand the outline for the most part
3 points: (3 points will be given for each bullet)
-some of the necessary requirements are included in the outline
-its debatable whether they understood the content and answered at least 2 essential questions
-the outline created is not easy to follow but with time can kind of be understood
2 points: (2 points will be given for each bullet)
-less than half of the necessary requirements are included in the outline
-it's obvious they barely understood the content and answered 1 essential question
-the outline created is hard to follow
1 point: (1 point will be given for each bullet)
-none of the necessary requirements are included outline
-they did not understand the content and answered none of the essential questions
