Cognitive Development by Heather

Introduction

Cognitive development is Jean Piaget's theory in Psychology. Jean Piaget wondered why children gave wrong answers to questions that required logical thinking. He believe that this way of thinking between adults and children were different for a reason. In his mind, children are less competent thinkers than adults are. In Piaget's theory, there are four stages of cognitive development: the sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational, and formal operational period.

Task

After reading about Jean Piaget's different stages of cognitive development, which stage do you believe you belong to and why do you think you are catagorized this way.

Process

When reading about the stages in cogntive development, take notes. Make sure you manage your time well and collect the data you need. It is an option if you want to work in a group or obtain this information on your own. If you choose to work in a group, explain why you think your stages of development are different.

Evaluation

Write a one page pager that explains what Jean Piaget's theory is, what stage your belong to and why you think you are catagorized as such.

Conclusion

After reading, you will have a good understanding of each stage in the cognitive development and you will know where you stand in Jean Piaget's eyes.
