Christmas Fun!

Introduction

Christmas time is almost here and all the lights and charols. However, it was not always like this ... or was it? 

We are going to organise a Cultural Christmas to talk about the different traditions in Mexico, New York, Italy, Sweden, England and Ireland.  You will need to look into: 

  • Traditional Food.
  • Traditions like: Christmas presents. 
  • Christmas routines. 
  • PICTURES - A Presentation without pictures, it's like a garden with no flowers!! 

Task

TASK 0: 

Why don't you take a peek on Christmas Traditions around the world? 

Click here and get an extra point on your work if you choose just one country and one tradition to do a small poster - Plain A4 is fine -. Also, you could write two traditions and dare your teacher and classmates to guess which one is the right one. 

TASK 1: 

Look for information on these statements and find out which one is TRUE: 

  • 1. Santa Claus is from the United States of America.
  • 2. Santa Claus wears red and white because of a famous soft drink’s publicity designer.
  • 3. British children open their presents on 24th December.
  • 4. Charles Dickens wrote his famous novella ‘A Christmas Carol’ the same year as the first Christmas cards appeared..
  • 5. Boxing Day takes its name from a traditional boxing match on 26th December.

TASK 2: 

Start creating your presentation with your partner (remember, maximum 3 people per group). So, it is Christmas time here is my present to you:

Evaluation

You and your partner or group need to bring to your teacher your hard work so it can be marked it. Also, remember there are extra points if you do a short presentation to your classmates.
