The school has had an outbreak in Chicken Pox and your class is the only one that hasn't been affected! The school needs your help to find the causes, preventions and treatments of chicken pox before it takes over the whole school!
The future of the school depends on you!
Task
Your task is to research all you can find about chicken pox. Some guiding questions may be:
- What is chicken pox?
- What causes chicken pox?
- How do we prevent getting chicken pox?
- What do we do once we have chicken pox?
- How can we save the school?
- Is there a treatment for chicken pox?
- Who can get chicken pox?
These are just some of the questions you can consider when researching chicken pox. You will be researchers, scientists and presenters throughout the entire project. Working collaboratively to find the causes, preventative methods, and treatment of chicken pox!

Process
You will be divided into 3 groups. One group will be focussing on the causes and symptoms of Chicken pox. Another group will look at the preventative measures for Chicken pox. The final group will research the treatment options for Chicken Pox. You will all present your work through etiher a PowerPoint presentation OR a informative poster.
The websites you can consider for your research are:
- http://www.patienteducationcenter.org/articles/chickenpox-varicella/
- http://www.cdc.gov/chickenpox/

- https://www.education.tas.gov.au/documentcentre/Documents/Infectious-Di…
And any other websites/books you can find yourself. Make sure to create a bibliography for each of your resources.
Evaluation
You will be graded off a checklist that will not be provided for you until the end of your presentation. As long as you put enough thought and show that you have researched Chicken pox efficiently, you will receive a good grade.
This task will be set over 3 days during the week. The first day will be discussing with your group about your research. The second day will be researching your alloacted area of Chicken pox, and the final day will be presentations to the class.
Conclusion
To sum up; the school has had an outbreak in chicken pox and your class is the only class who hasn't been affected. It is your task to research and present how you are going to save the school.
This task will be completed over 3 days with the final day being for presentations.
Good luck everyone! Stay away from the Chicken Pox!!
