Objective:
To promote the knowledge of the popular festival known as Carnival as a mean of expression and art, educate students about the history of cultural movement surrounding "Carnival", and its emergence in Brazil.
Introduction:
Carnival is a celebration that originated in Greece in the mid- 600-520 B.C. The Greeks held this festival to thank to the gods for the fertility and production of the soil.
Task

After accessing the internet pages, synthesize information and organize them into text editor. Text must be written in Portuguese.
Your synthesis should contain the following information:
- Occurrence of Carnival in Greece
- Carnival around the world
- Carnival in Venice
- The rise in Brazil
- How the date of Carnival is chosen?
- The visual arts at the carnival
- Carnival in different states of Brazil
Process
Time: 1 Class period (75 min.)
- Work with classmates in groups of up to four students.
- Access the web pages and scan the material. Browse all pages and links of available addresses.
- Create a list with the information found (follow the task criteria).
- Organize the text according to the order given in the task section. When possible, insert images to illustrate the topic discussed.
- Seek new sources of information.
- List all sources using APA style.

Evaluation

The evaluation will be continuous and will occur during the process of research and organization of the paper. The final project will be graded according to the rubric.
Conclusion
This activity has the main objective to integrate the student with the popular and contemporary art. It also promotes a group working through collaborative learning. Moreover, it encourages the creation of authentic material authored by students. The material produced by the students will be presented at the end of the class.
