Introduction
Bullying has been an issue in schools for several years. Bullying used to be an act of violence towards another person that is less than them. Now we see bullying in many different ways. Bullying has changed a lot over the years. With new teachnologies brings new ways for people to bully. We can now be bullied over the web, without knowing who is bullying us. Eventhough the tactics of bullying has changed we still see many students suffering from the issue in our schools. There is no way for students to know what exactly another students situation is at home without them personaly telling you. Some students may not look the same as you or act the same as you but that does not mean they are any less than you. So today we are breaking up into pairs and each person will play the role of a detective. What is bullying and how can we stop it?
Task
In this activity students will learn about bullying and ways to address the issue. You will be broken into pairs, then you will choose which detective role you want to play.
Process
1. Pick which detective you are going to be.
2. Follow the following directions to each role:
- Detective 1 is going to research what bullying is and the different ways to bully.
- Detective 2 is going to research ways to stop bullying and who victims can talk to.
- Both will then discuss their findings and talk about who in the school they can go to for help if they are being bullied or know of someone being bullied.
- Afterwards both will write a summary of what they have learned today and will give ways they are going to help with bullying.
