The Branches of Government

Introduction

Ms. Crowder's 4th Grade Social Studies Lesson

Welcome!

Our focus for this lesson is going to focus on the United States government. The United States has a type of goverment called Democracy, meaning the citizens hold the power and elect government offcials. Once our offcials are elected directly or indirectly, they join the governemnt system. There is three branches in the United States government, Legislative, Executive, and Judicial. We are going to take a closer took at each of these banches and see what exactly thier job function is.

Task

Research the three branches of government and answer the the questions using the links in the next section.

1. What is the primary job of each branch of goverment?

2. What branch would you like to be apart of? If you were apart of this branch what would you do/change and why?         Eample: I would like to be apart of the Legislative Branch because I want to create laws. I would make it a law that the school caferteria has to serve pepperoni rolls every Friday.
