Bone Disease Public Poster

Introduction

Imagine four years from now you are entering your senior year of college in nursing and have been asked to create an informative poster to present to the public about a bone disease of your choice.  In this poster you will describe to the public details from signs and symptoms to treatment. This end product will be your final grade for your pathophysiology class to help you graduate. The diseases you have to choose from are: rheumatoid, arthritis, bursitis, rickets, spina bifida, and gigantism. You will be working with one other person who I have already assigned you with.

Task

  • You will research your bone disease to figure out the following information:
  • Describe what it is.
  • Describe how it affects the bones/skeletal system
  • Describe Signs and Symptoms
  • Describe how it is diagnosed/ blood test/ x-ray
  • Describe treatments

On your poster is critical to remember that you are speaking to the public so you need to be able to describe this information in general terms that the public will understand.

Process

  • You and your partner will use approved websites to both research ideas and compile ideas you want to incorporate to show the public.  After gathering information from the websites sit together and review the important information and start breaking it down to simpler terms to present to the public.  The next step is planning how to present the information on the poster board so that it is not too overwhelming but gets the important points across to your audience.
