Introduction
During this lesson students will gather information on a specific biome in order to complete a Prezi and teach the information learned to their classmates.
Task
You will be working in a group of 4 and with your group, you will select which biome you want to research. After conducting your research, you will create a Prezi presentation that you will share with your class.
Process
Step One: Select your topic from the list below:
- Tundra
- Taiga
- Chaparral
- Grassland
- Desert
- Tropical Rain Forest
- Temperate Forest
Step Two: Research Guide As a group, you will complete the followig handout and take any additional notes that you would like to include in your presentation.

Step Three: Research your biome using the listed resources. You are required to use at least three resources, one must be a book. On your research guide, list the sources you used. 1. Science Textbook2. KDE Santa Barbara - http://kids.nceas.ucsb.edu/biomes/ 3. Kids Discover - https://online.kidsdiscover.com/unit/biomes 4. Library Books5. Library Reference Books Step Four: Before you can begin creating your presenation, Ms. Howard must check your Biome Reseach paper guide and notes. Once your groups guide and notes have been checked and corrected (if needed). You will design your Prezi presentation. Prezi Creation
- Go to Prezi.com
- Choose template-be sure the template that fits the theme of your presentation.
- Use the cell menu on the left hand side to create each cell of your Prezi.
- Remember to make sure your text size can be read by everyone.
- Spelling and grammar matter.
- Have your teacher review your Prezi
- If needed, make changes to your Prezi
The final step in this project is the presentation of your Prezi to your class. Use the following hints to make your presentation successful:
- Practice what you are going to say before you give your presentation.
- When you speak, look at your audience.

| Sequencing of Information | Information is organized in a clear, logical way. It is easy to anticipate the type of material that might be on the next card. | Most information is organized in a clear, logical way. One card or item of information seems out of place. | Some information is logically sequenced. An occasional card or item of information seems out of place. | There is no clear plan for the organization of information. |
| Content - Accuracy | All content throughout the presentation is accurate. There are no factual errors. | Most of the content is accurate but there is one piece of information that might be inaccurate. | The content is generally accurate, but one piece of information is clearly flawed or inaccurate. | Content is typically confusing or contains more than one factual error. |
| Effectiveness | Project includes all material needed to gain a solid understanding of the topic. It is a highly effective information guide. | Project includes most material needed to gain a solid understanding of the material but is lacking one or two key elements. It is an adequate information guide. | Project is missing more than two key elements. It would make an incomplete information guide. | Project is lacking several key elements and has inaccuracies that make it a poor information guide. |
| Includes Required Elements | Presentation includes all information about the selected Biome. | Presentation includes most of the information about the selected Biome. | Presentation includes some of the information about the selected Biome. | Presentation includes little information about the selected Biome. |
Conclusion
You have successfully completed your final project for our Ecosystem unit.
Did you learn something new about the Biome you researched?
Did you learn something new about another Biome from another groups presentation?
Do you now feel comfortable using Prezi for future presentations?
Did your classmates teach your something you didn't know?
