Bestseller!

Introduction

In this task, you will follow the progress of one book on the New York Times Best Seller List and keep track of its standing, and everythign else associtated with that. Get ready to read your way into the Best Seller List! Good Luck!

Task

Use the following website to follow the insturctions listed below:

1. Find the Books Section under Arts

2. Find the Best Seller List (Next to Books)

3. Choose the Complete Books & E - Book Listing's complete list. 

This is the first list and its at the bottom of that list. 

4. Use list for the process of Tracking your book!

Process

Once at this list choose the book that is the number of the day of the month that you are born on. 

Ex. July 25, 1994 = The 25th book. 

Once that book is chosen write down the following. 

Title 

Author 

Year released 

You will track this book for the next 5 weeks to see what it does on the Seller List 

If it goes up make note of that and if it goes down make note of that as well. 

Evaluation

Now the Five Weeks are up! 

After evaluating the results answer the following questions. 

1. What position did the book start out on?

2. What position did it end up on?

3. What are your thoughts about that?

4. Relate the increase or decrease in number on the follwing:

-Price 

-Time of Year 

-Audience (Whos this intended for)

-Is it old?

-Is it new?

-What are your thoughts on why it dropped or rose in number?

Conclusion

After tracking the book, what have you learnt about the sale of books in today's economy?

Why? 

What could have helped it?

The students should keep a log of each week and record every week of the same day of the week where the book places on the same list from week to week. 


Make sure that the logs they keep are acurate and on time each week.
