Introduction

Welcome to the animal kingdom

We are going to go on a journey to discover more about the environment and animals. We will enhance our knowledge of animals in greater depth. Furthermore, we will think about the need to preserve diversity in the animal kingdom. Every day we encounter animals in the environment around us.

Task

Some possible questions are:

  • Can you see a rabbit in the pictures?
  • Do cows make milk or juice?
  • Are the birds is flying or running?

  • Would you like to live in the sea? Why?

  •  Do you like the animals? Which ones do you prefer?
  • Why do we need different animals? (Think about the types of food you eat from animals)

Process

Pupils can talk about their experiences with animals or if they have pets.  You can to do a card with the name and the characteristics of their pet or favourite animal.

Evaluation

A)    Evaluation stages:

          - Initial evaluation:  to check what students know about the topic by doing a short test.

          - Formative evaluation: to observe of the pupils’ performance, attitudes and participation in all the activities proposed.

B)    Assessment instruments:

          - Direct observation in class.

          - Behaviors’ board and evaluation board.

          - Self evaluation worksheets (They think about their own participation, behavior in class too).

          - Co-evaluation: When doing games, crafts, activities or songs, our pupils can be the jury. It is also possible when doing pair-work, too.

- Rubric: A rubric is an assessment tool in the form of a table, which is used to evaluate a learner´s progress based on range criteria, rather than one single score.
