Ancient Aztec Civilization

Introduction

In this webquest, we will be discussing the civilization of Ancient Aztecs. Here are some questions to answers while reading the text.

1. Where was the Ancient Aztec Civilization located?

2. What time period was it created in?

3. What was the language they spoke in?

4. What was their religion like?

5. What were the Aztec Temples used for during hts time?

6. Where was the capital located?

7. What was their writing system?  

Task

What were the Aztecs?

The Aztec Civilization was located in modern day Mexico and Central America. The empire was first founded in 1101 by the spanish. The capital city of the Aztec was named Tenochtitlan. It was located in what would be Mexico city today.  The end of the Aztec Civilization was in 1525.                  The Aztec Civilization was one of three Civilizations at this time and in this area. The other two civilizations were the Inca and Mians.

Aztec Religion

The Aztecs did not have an offical religion. They based their beliefs on gods and ther actions. They believed that gods, humans, and nature wre all connected. They thought that the gods controlled nature.They also believed that if there was a natural disaster, the gods were angry with them. They would then perform sacrifices to try to eason wth the gods and make them happy. They would sacrifice animals, personal thing, and sometimes people.

Aztec Temples

 The Aztec Civilization had temples called Teocallis.. These temples were there for the people to worship the gods at. People would pray and worship the gods at these temples. They would also make offerings at these temples. The temples were also seen as the houses for hte gods.  

Evaluation

Aztec Language

The Aztec Civilization did not have an offical language. Some of the people had a native language called Nahuah. Another name for it would be Nahuat. Other peole spoke in spanish.

 

Conclusion

Aztec Writing System

The Aztec Civilization used symbols to represent objects. Each symbol had a certain number of lines that creates a certain picture. This system uses short and simple text.
