All About Butterflies

Introduction

We have been reading about butterflies all week. We have read "A Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle, "A Butterfly is Patient" by Dianna Hutts Aston and Sylvia Long, and "The Life Cycle of a Butterfly" by Lisa Trumbauer. A butterfly is an insect, we know this because they have six legs. You can observe them flying around during the Summer months in the backyard. In this webquest, students will work with a partner to investigate the butterfly a little closer. Students will learn what they eat, how they eat, and how they taste their food. They will learn all of the butterfly's body parts, their life cycle, and places they live. When students have completed this webquest, they will be able to write an informative paragraph about butterfies and complete a worksheet labeling the butterfly's body parts.Depicting metamorphosis
