Abrahamic Religions

Introduction

Your task is to gather information about the following Abrahamic religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam. You will conduct research aided by the links provided on this Quest. Feel free to supplement with any other research sites you’d like to use.  You MUST cite your sources.

Task

Upon the completion of your research you should be able to provide the following information about all three religions:

1. Beginnings: When did it begin? Where did it begin? Who did it start with? How did it spread? Who were some of the major leaders of each religion?

2. Supreme Being: Who is the supreme being of each? What are they called?

3. Sacred Book: What is the name of the holy or sacred text?

4. Religions Practice/Worship: What are some unique practices to each religion? (How do they each worship God?). What are some of the divisions of the religion (different sects of Christianity, Judaism, Islam)?

5. Holiday/Holy Days: What are some recognized holidays and/or holy days for each religion? What do they represent?

6. Place of Worship: Where do members of each religion meet or congregate to worship?

7. Symbols: What symbols are associated with each religion?

Process

Using the Task page as a guide, start to preview the materials that are available to you. As you find the items that are part of your Quest, document your findings.  The list of resources below are only a few of the sources available to you.

You will notice that all three religions are monotheistic. You will want to include this in your information.

The information on the Task page can be presented in a variety of formats:

1. You must submit your information in electronic format

2. Your work must be neat and well-organized. You may use Google Docs to copy/paste the questions, but your responses must be your own.

3. You may submit your individual work through Google Docs (report, brochure, etc.) or a Google Slides presentation of the information covered on the organizational chart. You may use the format of your choosing, but the information must include the topics listed on the task page.

4. You must have pictures for each of the three religions.  You should include a house of worship, one of the historical figures, the symbols associated with the religion, and at least one piece of art or architecure that is associated with the religion (each has unique buildings and/or styles of art)

5. YOU MUST CITE YOUR SOURCES!
